ABB has launched CoriolisMaster, a Coriolis mass flowmeter, and ProcessMaster, an electromagnetic flowmeter that integrates new communication fun
ctions. These new flowmeters can transmit data and power through the same Ethernet cable, eliminating the need for separate wiring. This new feature
shortens installation time and reduces installation costs while increasing the speed and reliability of data transfer.
A major challenge for process industry customers is reducing the complexity and cost of installing and operating field instrumentation, infrastructure and
systems. The new integrated ABB CoriolisMaster and ProcessMaster flow meters using ProfiNet protocol and Power over Ethernet overcome this challenge
by providing a one-cable solution.
ProfiNet is an operational technology (OT) protocol that operates at the application layer. Integrating the ProfiNet protocol into ABB's CoriolisMaster and
ProcessMaster flow meters enables seamless, real-time data exchange, alarms and diagnostic monitoring. It also supports multiple configurations to ensu
re reliable, efficient communication between flow meters and between local and wide area networks (LAN and WAN).
